PURPOSEFUL LIVING. The Christmas Story: How To Achieve Your Goals

MATTHEW 1:18-25

NOTE :
God wants you to achieve your goals in life through definite purpose and plan.
I. HAVING A DEFINITE PURPOSE
  • The angel spoke God’s purposes to Joseph – vv.20-21,  Matt 1:20-21.
  • God’s purpose arose out of his dissatisfaction with the situation of humans due of the Fall at Eden.
  • There was and there is really a problem and only a definite purpose can bring about its solution.
  • Jesus is God’s purpose personified. Luke 5:15, Phil 2:9-11
  • The name of Jesus secures the purpose of God for humanity.
II. HAVING A DEFINITE PLAN
  1. The prophet Isaiah revealed God’s plan to Matthew
  2. Two levels of plan to achieve God’s purpose –
  •  God will use a virgin. A girl of marriageable age
  •  God will eventually dwell among people
Remember!
  •  Gen 3:15 – the seed of the woman…
  •  Isaiah’s prophecy and the angel’s word only confirmed what God had earlier declared.
  • 1 Cor. 3:16-17
Watch these 5 things:
  • God is never accidental. He does not operate by chance. He is deliberate in his acts in Creation and Redemption.
  •  The plan of God is that every family be headed by a man and that the man should both hear God’s leading for his family and lead the family in the direction of God.
  • Live a life of constant assurance that God is with you and that he will help you to achieve your goals in life.
  •   Holiness is required of any vessel to be used by God. Purge yourself from sin and every appearance of evil.
  •   Jesus came to save people from their sin. He also intends to dwell in the life of the saved person and with the saved community. Allow him to fulfill the will of the Father in your life NOW!

CONCLUSION: Living purposefully is achieving your goals in life through your obedience to the purpose and plan of God for your life
