Essential Factors For Advancing: Spiritual Warfare – 1
Ephesians 6:10-20

NOTE:

Spiritual warfare is fought and won by identifying who and what we are confronting in relation to whom and what we have for the battle

NOTE:

The good news is that
Jesus has won the battle through his cross.
Your part is to enforce and maintain what Jesus has already done

I. WE IDENTIFY WHO AND WHAT WE ARE CONFRONTING WHEN WE PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD (vv.11-12)

God wants you to see that your real enemy is not human beings in their relationship to you. Your real enemy is the devil in his strategic administrative protocol targeted at you

• Principalities – that is the chief or the first in position (v. 12; 1:21; Col. 2:10)

• Powers/authorities – the demonic spirits that derive their authority from Principalities. (v. 12; 1:21; Col. 2:10)

• Rulers of darkness of this age/ world rulers – these are demonic spirits who apart from receiving the instruction from ‘authorities’ also exert their influence over the system of the world. (Dan. 10:13-21; Eph. 1:21; 6:12; Col. 1:16-18)

• Spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places – these are battalions and/or companies of warring/ fighting demonic spirits. They are demonic soldiers. (v.12; 1:21; Col. 1:16-18)

• II. WE IDENTIFY WHOM AND WHAT WE HAVE FOR THE BATTLE WHEN WE TAKE UP THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD (VV.13-17)

3 Instruments to keep you standing:

• Truth

• Righteousness

• Gospel of peace

3 Instruments of towering importance:

• Shield of faith

• Helmet of salvation

• Sword of the Spirit

• III. WE IDENTIFY COMPLETELY WITH GOD AND HIS PROVISION FOR OUR VICTORY WHEN WE PRAY (VV.18-20)

• Pray with ALL prayer

• Supplication in the Spirit

• Watchfulness & Perseverance

• Pray for other believers

• Pray for your pastor

• Spiritual warfare is real. Victory in spiritual warfare is equally real and the testimonies sweeter to the ears and comforting to the soul.
