MINISTERING TO THE PASTOR

MINISTERING TO THE PASTOR

EPHESIANS 4:11-12

INTRODUCTION.

The Pastoral Ministry is a definite call from the Lord. God is the one that calls and
commission His chosen servants into this ministry. Psalm 78:70. I have found David the son
of Jesse, A man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

1. THE ROLE OF THE PASTOR, ACTS 20:28
The Spiritual Leader:
God gave him the authority and responsibility to oversee the family "Church". God
will hold him accountable for any poor work done.

God's Representative:
Their job demand high degree of maturity, self sacrifice, patience, love, perseverance
and ability to keep on in face of opposition. He functions as God's representative in
his church.

He Carries Anointing:
The Pastor must be honoured and highly respected because he is carrying the anointing
transferred from God.

The King Of The Church
Our pastor is the king of the church so no one should mess with his crown.

2. PARTNERING WITH GOD AND PASTORS:
We must partner with our Pastors as we partner with God.
Pastors often suffer from doubts, discouragement and guild about their Work. So the continue encouragement, strength, and cooperation of all of us will help our pastors
through the difficult and turbulent times.

Some Christians think that Pastors are super human beings and they don't eat, sleep or
need rest. They believe that pastors are Angels! Pastors are men like us, they are flesh
and blood.

Some Christians have thought that Pastors and gospel ministers are only to minister to them
and they don't need to minister back to them. They go to them for counselling, prayers
and regular ministration without appreciating the crucial nature of their work.

3. WHY DO PASTORS NEED ENCOURAGEMENT?

  • They are doing the toughest job in the World.
  • They are subject to so many attacks.
  • They are the object of envy, criticism and ridicule.
  • They are working under great pressures.
  • He spend 50-60h hours a week while Some of us spend 40-50 hours in our secular job
  • They are working under great expectation
  • Encouragement will help them better
  •  Encouragement will help them to aspire and take more risk.
  • It will make them realize that they are loved and wanted.
4. WHY DO WE OBEY AND BE LOYAL TO OUR PASTOR

  • It is scriptural Heb. 13:17:
  • He will give Account:
  • He will answer for the spiritual well being of his member.
  • He must exercise authority to make sure that spiritual and physical needs are met.
  • We have to be loyal, committed and dedicated to his vision.

5. FOR YOU TO BE BLESSED Gen. 14:18-20

He was Blessed
Abraham was blessed after he gave a tithe to the Priest of God, Melchizedek.

God made a Covenant
God made a covenant with him and God also promised him a son.

6. PHYSICAL SUPPORT 1 Tim. 5:17 -18

Give him moral support:
  •  1 Thes. 5:12-13. Don't stay aloof from the Pastor. Show him that you welcome him to church. Encourage him with words; Hail and appreciate his messages and support his efforts to bring growth to the church.
  • Criticism and character assassination will not help him, you and the church.

Appreciate Our Pastor Daily:
Church and church members must support and honour their Pastors physically, not
only today.

Physical support:
This should come in tangible ways. Expect that members should put in motion the
plan to build for our pastor his own private house.

PRAYER SUPPORT COL. 4:2-4, Heb. 13:18-19.
  • Prayer and intercession for the pastor will do what nobody else can do will make him become a mighty instrument in the hand of God.
  • Consistent prayer and Intercession will do the following for the pastor:
  • Help him to be wise.
  • Help his humility.
  • Increase his anointing.
  • Shield him from enemy-attack.
  • Strengthen him against temptation.
  • Help him to take the right decision.

CONCLUSION:
Churches and Christians that show support to their Pastor from sincere and genuine hearts
will experience divine favour, open doors, breakthrough, growth, peace and progress.

Let Gal. 6:6 be your watch word every day.
